COUNCILLORS have demanded improved safety at Witney's busy mini-roundabouts after two serious accidents last week.
A 17-year-old boy was treated for concussion at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, after being knocked down while walking along a pavement in Newland last Wednesday.
And a day later three cars collided at the twin roundabouts that connect Newland, West End, Wood Green and Bridge Street.
Witney East ward district councillor Roger Curry wants immediate action to avoid any further incidents at the junction.
He said: "It's an extremely dangerous crossing. They promised to do something in May, but have done nothing.
"I want to see the refuge in the road made bigger and better.
"Cars drive so fast in all directions around those roundabouts - it's an absolute nightmare.
"They now say they'll do something this month - but it's too late for this poor, young boy."
Dora Jupp, of Woodlands Road, stayed with the boy until paramedics arrived to take him to hospital.
She said: "He was very dazed and he couldn't say his name.
"He was lucky he wasn't more badly hurt - cars go flying around those roundabouts."
Oxfordshire County Council deputy area engineer Paul Wilson said: "We have a project planned to almost double the size of the central refuge in the road at this site. We want to get it done this side of Christmas."
