A man trying to save the environment may have to pull down his wind turbine - if his neighbours find it too noisy.
Craig Colliass, 46, spent £1,500 on the device for his home in Membury Way, Grove, near Wantage, to help the global warming problem and cut fuel bills.
But Vale of White Horse district councillors have folded to local pressure and have only granted the turbine temporary planning permission for 12 months.
Neighbours did not like the idea of noise from the blades - and thought it might harm pets with sensitive hearing.
Another concern was that the equipment would hit property values if other homes were allowed turbines.
They received support from district councillor Jenny Hannaby who said the turbine would be a "visual intrusion".
Mr Colliass, a heating and plumbing engineer, is furious that full permission has not been granted.
He said: "This is crazy and goes against the present climate of public opinion and even Government policy.
"We are all being urged to save energy and explore other means of energy generation.
"My turbine is going to be monitored and will have to come down if it's decided it's too noisy."
Conservative leader and Witney MP David Cameron plans to have a turbine at his London home and would like to see solar panels and a turbine fixed to 10 Downing Street.
An EcoSmart village has been built in Chorley, Lancashire, which has energy saving and power generating technology - including wind turbines attached to the side of the houses.
Planning officer Martin Deans said Mr Colliass's turbine was 10 times more powerful than two micro turbines in Abingdon that were granted full planning permission. The council will monitor the device over the next year before making a final decision.
