PEOPLE in Didcot are being urged to keep a lookout for a missing Aberdeen Angus cow.
The six-year-old - called Clio - ran away three weeks ago and, despite a desperate search by its owner, is still at large.
Michael Saunders, 69, of Foxhall Manor Park in Didcot, bought the cow on Friday, October 13 from a breeder in East Hanney.
But as he unloaded the cow from his trailer at his field next to the Hadden Hill Golf Course, it made a break for freedom. Mr Saunders said: "It just went berserk and jumped the fence into the golf course. It was a five-and-a-half foot fence - it just cleared it."
The following day Clio was spotted near the Tesco roundabout on the A4130.
And at 4am on Sunday October 15, police officers contacted Mr Saunders to say the cow had been spotted in a wood near Hadden Hill.
But by the time he arrived, Clio was nowhere to be seen. He said: "It had scarpered again. It had been in the wood but it just disappeared. We don't know where it is."
He is now offering a £100 reward to anyone who finds the animal and has put up posters around Didcot.
Mr Saunders, who keeps cows as a hobby, has worked with cattle all his life.
He added: "I have had a week off work looking for it which has cost me £1,000.
"I just hope it doesn't do too much damage. I don't know who would be responsible."
A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "All local officers are aware of the situation."
Anyone who spots Clio should call the police on 08458 505505.
