I REFER to the article (October 27) about taxi drivers reversing into Queen Street from Carfax.
How did they get their licence when knowing the Highway Code is part of your driving test? I am assuming that the council and highways have their house in order.
- At the east end of Queen Street there should be one red sign each side of the road stating no entry. These are prohibitive signs.
- At the west end of Queen Street there should be signs saying buses and taxis only. In Queen Street itself there should be vertical blue oblong signs showing one-way traffic eastbound. These are compulsory signs.
- Reversing should be kept at a minimal distance, a change from when it used to be a maximum of 30 feet.
