The Health Protection Agency (HPA) confirmed last night there have been no new reports of anthrax infections in Oxford.
However, the agency refused to comment on the condition of the heroin user who was diagnosed on Friday, the 12th confirmed case in Europe since June, or which hospital they are being treated at.
The Oxford victim is believed to be a woman from the Rose Hill area, although this has yet to be confirmed.
HPA spokeswoman Teresa Cash said: “There is no risk to the public unless they are injecting drugs.”
