AN OXFORD estate welcomed people of all ages to its big annual party at the weekend.

An estimated 1,000 people attended the Barton Therapy Bash, at the Neighbourhood Centre in Underhill Circus, on Saturday, for a mix of face-painting, arts and crafts workshops, entertainment, facials and reflexology.

The sixth annual event, run by the Barton Community Association, was officially opened by president Chris Gerkin and Dorothy Pearce who, at 96, is the group’s oldest member.

The headline act was Barton’s Messy Jam dancers, with other performances coming from Barton Karate Group and pupils from Bayards Hill School, including seven-year-old Nicholas Cox, above. Sue Holden, 64, the community association’s secretary, said: “It was absolutely fantastic.

I would recommend everybody holds their summer events in November.

It was a lovely balance of information, therapy and fun and it just ran so smoothly. It couldn’t happen without our sponsors and our volunteers.”
