FLOOD alerts were in place for seven waterways across Oxfordshire last night after heavy rain throughout Saturday night and yesterday.
The Environment Agency warned yesterday that the River Ock from Watchfield to Abingdon could flood, along with Letcombe Brook at Wantage, Grove, and East Hanney.
Also said to be at risk was the River Cherwell from the north of the county through to Lower Heyford, and Langford and Wendlebury Brook from Stratton Audley to Merton.
The River Evenlode – from the west county border through Kingham, Milton-under-Wychwood, Charlbury, Long Hanborough to Cassington – was also said to be at risk, along with the River Glyme at Wootton and Woodstock.
The River Thame from Thame to Dorchester was another waterway put on alert with Stadhampton, Drayton St Leonard, and Chalgrove, all at risk.
Rain water was seen collecting in roads, and there were also reports of traffic delays yesterday morning due to surface water on the A34 by Oxford and the A40 close to the Cutteslowe Roundabout.
Light showers are forecast in the county for today, with the weather expected to dry up during the week.
