Royal Mail has announced that all the postboxes painted gold to celebrate British Olympic and Paralympic victories in the summer will retain the colour permanently.
More than 100 postboxes around the country were painted gold to celebrate each gold medal success, including one at the junction of Hill Top Road and Divinity Road, in East Oxford. It was repainted in honour of Paralympic rowing cox Lily van den Broecke, pictured, who grew up in the area and attended Headington School. The 20-year-old is now a student at Durham University.
Previously Royal Mail had not said whether the postboxes would remain gold permanently.
