Why has the Government got these big ideas of a two-tier levy on car tax?
All drivers sticking to local roads would pay less car tax than people who drive on motorways.
We should do away with car tax and put a bit of extra tax on petrol, then pay our car tax by the amount of fuel we use. So the more we use, the more tax we pay – it’s always been unfair that someone who doesn’t drive much has to pay the same per year as someone who is out and about most of the time.
It would work out a lot cheaper to bring into force than cameras and tolls on new roads.
The Government never thinks of a cheaper way to do anything.
