With Remembrance Day fast approaching again, there is no better time to support the troops by making a donation to the Royal British Legion, who work on behalf of retired and serving members of the armed forces and their families.
Next time you see a poppy tin, give generously and remember the fallen, including those based in our county. Among those, of course, are the soldiers of 11 Explosive Ordnance Disposal Regiment at Vauxhall Barracks in Didcot.
Until the conflict in Afghanistan is over they have a job to do and, as bomb disposal experts defusing suspect devices on a daily basis, they have a crucial role on the frontline.
The memorial wall at the barracks already stands testament to the extraordinary bravery of troops from the base, some of whom have made the ultimate sacrifice.
