Sir – Just been to the cinema in Walton Street which was great (Skyfall) — but, afterwards, walking down this once vibrant, interesting street, it is really so sad to see that it is now just full of estate agents and eateries. What is going on?
Why are the council/university so short-sighted that they increase the rents to such levels that the small interesting shops close.
The thing that is missed in all this is that if there is nothing to look at, then eventually the eateries will go too, because soon there will be no particular reason to walk along Walton Street and this, I think, is incredibly sad.
