WHEN cancer touched the lives of sisters Molly and Emily Powell, they decided to fight back.

The girls’ grandmother Sarah Keen is battling breast cancer and their great aunt Georgina Benns sadly died because of it.

Earlier this year the pair joined their mum Becky Powell to complete the Race For Life in Oxford but decided it wasn’t enough.

So after checking the Against Breast Cancer website and seeing what they could do to raise cash, they set their hearts on a cake sale.

After getting permission from their headteacher at Five Acres School, near Bicester, the girls set up a stall and raised more than £600.

Molly, nine, said: “The reason we came up with the Think Pink day is my great auntie passed away with cancer and now my nanny has it.

“Emily and I had the idea to wear pink, and hold a cake sale at school because we want to raise lots of money to help find a cure.”

Emily, seven, added: “When I did the Race for Life it made me have an idea to raise lots more money for other people that have breast cancer like my nanny.”

Mrs Powell, 32, of Ambrosden, said: “We are so proud of them, just watching them come alive and think of ideas brought a tear to my eye. Nanna is absolutely over the moon, she’s very, very proud of them.”

Mrs Powell’s mother Mrs Keen, 52, of Bicester, was diagnosed with breast cancer in May and has just completed 18 weeks of chemotherapy.
