Author Martin Amis's visit to Oxford's Sheldonian Theatre has been cancelled due to poor ticket sales.
Mr Amis was due to talk at the venue on Tuesday at 7pm, to promote his new novel House of Meetings, but cancelled the book-signing event after only 90 out of 600 tickets were sold.
Charlie Hayes, events manager of Borders Bookshop in Magdalen Street, which organised the signing, said: "It's very disappointing, but unfortunately we have had to cancel due to poor ticket sales.
"We did suggest that Mr Amis could do a signing in the store instead, but he didn't want to do that.
"Mr Amis recently gave a talk at the Cheltenham Literary Festival so that may have hit ticket sales."
Those who bought tickets costing £4 can get a refund from the store.
