It was not pretty, but Henley Hawks battled hard for a 12-5 victory against a dogged Manchester side at Dry Leas in National League 2.
Manchester spent 65 per cent of the game in Henley territory, but they paid for three missed easy kicksat goal.
The first points came just before half-time when Dave Archer fed Stean Williams, who found Jon Tenconi on his elbow to touch down. Mitch Burton landed the touchline conversion.
With Henley reduced to 14 men by the sin-binning of prop Tom French, Manchester repsonded with a try from flanker Danny Collins.
Manchester were now favourites, but Henley winger Chris Simmons raced over to seal the victory.
Oxford outshone Gosford All Blacks in the backs to romp home 48-8 in the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Premier Divison, thanks to tries from Tom Olley (3), Kenny MacLennan (2), Dean Muir (2) and Mark Viner. Olley added four conversions.
Eugene Griffin scored Gosford's try and Ed Marno landed a penalty.
