Oxford United players signed autographs for fans as a group of supporters prepared to walk all the way to Wycombe for charity today.
Liam Davis and Jon-Paul Pittman were in Templars Square shopping centre in Cowley to meet fans ahead of today’s derby clash with Wycombe Wanderers.
At the same time, members of the OxVox Supporters Trust were preparing for today’s 24-mile hike to the away game. It will take eight hours and they were due to set off at 5.15am.
Chairman of fans’ group OxVox Mark Sennett, 28, from Marston, organised the walk to raise money for charity.
A group of 27 volunteers will make the trek, having raised over £4,000 for Helen and Douglas House hospice in Magdalen Road, East Oxford, and Oxford United Youth and Community Sports Trust.
He said: “Helen and Douglas House helps terminally ill children and we wanted to help.
“The Oxford United trust also does great work in the community, helping schools and children around the county.”
The players raised a further £150 in Templars Square and wished OxVox luck for the Walk to Wycombe.
Les Phillips, a member of the 1986 League Cup winning side will join the hike to Wycombe.
