Banbury United's roller-coaster of a Premier Division campaign continued on Saturday when they threw away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 at home to Rugby on Saturday Following a goalless first half, the game exploded into action, four minutes after the break when George Redknap hit home a thunderous volley from 25 yards.
Banbury increased their lead when Darren Pond stroked the ball in from a narrow angle after good work by Andy Baird, Howard Forinton and Ady Fuller.
In the 63rd minute, the young Rugby side pulled a goal back through David Stone, who beat a stranded Alan Judge from 15 yards.
The visitors equalised in the 70th minute, as Willis Francis nodded the ball home.
Rugby's winning goal came in the 88th minute when Matt Gearing let fly from a narrow angle - a 25-yard shot that would have beaten any keeper in the land.
