A woman was sexually assaulted in Bicester in the early hours of this morning.
Police were called to Market Square following a report that a woman had been assaulted at around 2.30am.
The victim, a 21-year-old woman, was walking when she was attacked.
A 29-year-old man has been arrested and remains in custody.
Det Sgt Roger Lamboll said: “Officers responded very quickly to calls about the incident and made an arrest close to the scene.
“This is obviously a very distressing incident for the victim and she is being looked after by specially trained officers. There is a scene watch in place which may cause some concern in the local community but I would ask that any witnesses to this incident contact police.”
Anyone with any information should contact Thames Valley Police via 101.
