Sir – In a week that a political party delivered their newsletter to our house, commenting on the shortage of school places in North Oxford, my six-year-old son has noticed the increasing number of schoolchildren leaving Cutteslowe catchment area each morning, wearing Wolvercote uniforms.
Despite living in the Wolvercote catchment, we selected Cutteslowe Primary for our children, with great anticipation of the promised improvements and expansion.
I am delighted to say, that under the leadership of Jon Gray and his deputy, Sarah Gristwood, the transformation is well under way.
For the first time, harvest festival has outgrown the school hall, too many pupils and too many eager parents!
The £2m expansion of the buildings, which will double the school’s intake, is growing by the day, with phase 1 looking close to completion, and the school is to become an academy in the new year, with The Cherwell School as sponsor.
I urge any parents that may have been put off by the past reputation of the school, to visit it during the prospective parents’ open day on November 27 and be prepared to be amazed.
Chris Smith, Oxford
