THE Taxpayers’ Alliance says the 5.2 per cent rise in benefits to pensioners this year was wrong when millions of workers endured a pay freeze or cuts. The rise we had this year made the pensioners who get housing benefit £20 a month better off.
The pensioner who pays full rent ended up £8 a month worse off, because the council put up rents by £7 a week.
So for these people. Cameron didn’t give them anything – in fact, he gave them that in one hand and took more back with the other.
And yet MPs are looking to get a 40 per cent hike in their pay. But they are alright, Jack.
