The new Oxford to Marylebone rail route (Oxford Mail, October 19) is a fantastic vote of confidence in Oxfordshire by rail firm Arriva. It is just the kind of investment in public transport we need to get commuters and the local economy moving.
Well done to Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin for saying yes. Three cheers to parent company Deutsche Bahn for seeing the money-making potential. Now let’s make sure nothing prevents the trains from rolling by 2015.
For too long Bicester residents have been denied a decent train service to Oxford. The new station at Water Eaton will open up excellent rail links without passengers first having to fight their way through the Oxford traffic.
Investment is best when private and public sectors work hand in hand. This £130m rail project is on exactly the right track for Oxfordshire.
