I HOPE that The Insider (Oxford Mail, October 18), was not blaming Princess Anne for the fact she was driven 100 metres to the Kassam Stadium entrance.
We were lucky enough to visit Watchet, Somerset, when she was inspecting the lighthouse there on September 20.
We saw her walking along the long causeway towards the town. She eventually emerged and walked along the main street to look around the museum.
Next it was the quay, where she greeted schoolchildren and unveiled a plaque. Even later we saw her walking along the far platform to visit the steam railway station.
She must have been in Watchet for over three hours and most of that time a car had been waiting in a side street to return her to the helicopter.
We admired Princess Anne’s stamina and the fact that she does so many visits with little or no fuss on her part.
