Thomson Professor Robert Aged 84 years, peacefully at the John Radcliffe Hospital on the twentieth of November, 2018, after a stroke and a short illness. Retired Mashtots Chair in Armenian Studies at Harvard University (1969-1992) and Calouste Gulbenkian Chair of Armenian Studies at Oxford's Pembroke College (1993-2001). A private family cremation will be followed by a celebration ceremony of his life and academic career in the New Year at a date to be announced, for all friends and colleagues. Donations are greatly received for the National Association for Armenian Studies and Research, which provides academic research grants to students in the field.
