There's never a bad time for a pie, but the approaching winter gloom makes a slice of comfort food especially inviting.
If you're anywhere near Deddington High Street, and suddenly develop a craving for some hot pastry action, drop by at Pudding Face, a gastropub that used to be - you've guessed it - a 16th century coaching inn, where the varieties include pigeon, venison with gin and juniper, and curried beef. There are one or two veggie creations too, and naturally, a decent selection of desserts.
Pudding Face, which strictly speaking is known as the Crown and Tuns (a Hook Norton pub, so you know what to expect on tap there), is a split level venue built around a U-shaped bar. Oh, and there's a poem written by a customer on one of the walls.
