Watch out for new openings which include Sushi & Bento on Cornmarket (the title is fairly self explanatory - another take on Asian healthy fast food) and two new coffee shops; an espresso bar on the High Street itself c/o Jericho Coffee Traders, and one in Avenue 3 of The Covered Market. Brothertons in Woodstock has opened under new management and a new coffee shop is due in the former wood furniture shop there.
Mamma Mia Pizzeria has won a prestigious award and been named the Platinum Award Winner in the ‘Independent Pizza Restaurant’ Category at the Pizza, Pasta & Italian Food Association (PAPA) Awards 2016. Given to independent pizza restaurants it focuses on standards in terms of product, service and overall atmosphere. The winners were announced at the PAPA Awards Dinner which took place at the Lancaster London Hotel, Hyde Park.
Woodstock’s The Feathers Hotel announces the opening of restaurant, Kitchen by Dominic Chapman. Formerly Head Chef of Heston Blumenthal’s Michelin-starred Hinds Head (Bray) and Michael Parkinson’s Michelin-awarded Royal Oak. Now chef proprietor of the acclaimed Beehive in White Waltham, Dominic Chapman brings a wealth of experience to The Feathers, having worked in restaurants around the world for more than 20 years.
Dominic earned his own Michelin star in 2010 through his affinity with India and its contribution to British food culture. His trademark is straightforward, comforting food made from the best seasonal ingredients with the kind of attention to detail that only years spent in the best kitchens bring. The Retreat Pub on Hythe Bridge Street in central Oxford has been taken over by the guys who run The Lighthouse on Park End Street and is closed from Sunday-Wednesday fo six weeks for a full refurbishment and new look.
YO! Sushi Oxford on George Street is the first in the UK to feature The Shuttle which automatically delivers hot food directly to guests from the kitchen via an elevated ‘expressway’.
It’s a fast and fun new way to discover YO! Sushi’s range of freshly-made and authentic Japanese hot dishes. To celebrate this , guests get a third off food until November 26.
