* There’s a great new pop-up restaurant The Hungry Blue running on Sundays throughout May at the OCVC College, opposite the Oxford Ice Rink. It offers American diner, brunch, barbecue and Tex-Mex classics – including dishes such as pulled pork, huevos rancheros and Oreo Mississippi mud pie.

Run by Jess McMurray, pictured, currently training to be a chef there, the Sunday kitchen is staffed with her fellow students.

Having studied law at Oxford and gone to live in Europe for five years, Jess came back to the UK looking for a challenge, and Mark Roberts at OCVC was kind enough to put her straight onto the third year of the chef diploma so that she could jump in at the deep end.

She hopes to provide authentic tasting American food, in a relaxed environment, at affordable prices and develop her student skills at the same time, creating a restaurant concept to be proud of.

The Hungry Blue will be open from 11am - 2pm on Sunday, May 11 and 18. For a 10 per cent discount, just bring a copy of this paper with you on your next visit.
