ONE of Oxfordshire’s best-known bands have been signed up to headline this year’s Truck Festival.
Supergrass, who hail from Wheatley, will top the bill at this year’s Truck, at Hill Farm, Steventon, near Abingdon, on July 25 and 26.
Festival organisers Joe and Robin Bennett also announced that Northern Ireland indie-rock band Ash would also appear at the popular gathering.
The bands top a bill featuring many Truck regulars – including country rock outfit Danny & the Champions of the World, which features the Bennett brothers, and their sister Katie, in its line-up.
Joe Bennett said: “Truck wrote the rule book for what have now become 'boutique' festivals to copy. It represents one of the precious few independent music festivals still going strong in the UK – with no corporate slogans, no sponsorship and no agenda.”
Founded in 1998, this year’s will be the 12th event. As well as a nationally, and internationally recognised showcase of up-and-coming talent, the festival raises thousands of pounds for local and overseas good causes.
Volunteers from Steventon parish church and Didcot Rotary Club serve food and snacks, while the bars are manned by helpers in fancy dress.
Tickets are £70. The organisers are offering a Supertrucker ticket which also allows entry to the sister festival, Wood, on May 15-17, for £110.

Mr Bennett added: “The festival is all about community, passion for music and a relaxed attitude to life.
“It’s the rarest of events: one where you feel more like a guest than a customer. So we’ll see you all there!”
