It doesn't happen very often, but it is nice to see hardened clubbers and devoted gig-lovers shaking their butts in agreement.
But then few bands spark such universal excitement as Soulwax.
One of Europe's most innovative art-rock acts, siblings Stephen and David Dewaele are also sharp on the decks - playing as 2ManyDJs. It's fair to say they are the best things to have come out of Belgium since Tintin and Leffe.
Tomorrow (Friday, May 23), they touch down at the Carling Academy. Playing alongside fellow Flanders men Stefaan Van Leuven and Steve Slingeneyer, Soulwax were inspired by the heavy stoner rock of bands like Kyuss and Masters Of Reality.
Their DJ sets, initially a way to entertain their mates after gigs, are widely regarded as among the best in the game. Doors open at 9pm and the night runs through to 3am. Tickets are £15 in advance. Call 0844 477 2000.
