Manchester's finest, Elbow hit town on Tuesday - wielding a new album and a head full of thunderous riffs.

Elbow's gig at the Carling Academy follows a rollercoaster couple of years during which they have barely left the studio - having been barred from performing live by contractual issues. But new album The Seldom Seen Kid (on Fiction Records) has been hailed as their best work to date.

Inspired by the death of friend and respected singer-songwriter Bryan Glancy, it is emotionally wrought and shot through with Guy Garvey's gallows humour. But, being Elbow, it also rocks!

Tickets are £15. Call 0871 2200 260.

To celebrate the return of Elbow, the Guide has teamed up with cold beer maestros Carling to give you and FOUR mates the chance to see the band at the Carling Academy Oxford on Tuesday.
