In this age of instant fame, it is refreshing to find a pop band that not only stands the test of time, but actually improves.

Pop fans have become accustomed to the ever familiar flash-in-the pan syndrome - savouring their favourite acts for as long as they'll last, then hoping they'll reunite 10 years down the line.

They know full well that today's hot' will more than likely turn into tomorrow's not'.

The Sugababes are the exception to the rule.

They've achieved a decade of success, selling more than two million singles and five million albums - three of them going triple Platinum in the UK.

They've sold out international tours, won dozens of awards, and have scored more top 10 hits with original songs than any other girl band since 60's super-trio The Supremes.

They are, undoubtedly, the biggest girl group in the UK.

And, like The Supremes, there's no doubt that their warm, harmonic, sophisticated sound will go from strength to strength, with the latest line-up of the group proving to be a dynamite combination.

Keisha Buchanan, Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah are here to stay.

But despite their enduring success, the girls are still as down to earth and passionate about their music as ever, and are particularly excited about their 29-date UK tour, which rolls into Oxford on Monday.

"I'm really excited about getting out there, seeing the fans again and seeing how they react to the new material," says Keisha.

"We can't wait to see the fans who have stuck with us throughout everything.

"Touring is like a way of us saying 'thank you'."

The date, at the city's New Theatre, comes on the back of Change, Sugababes' sixth studio album, and the first to feature vocals from newest band-member Amelle.

And the girls say they have worked hard to push the boat out with the tour by injecting as much creativity as possible into their performances - including even more daring outfits.

"They're a little bit more dramatic than we've had before," says Heidi.

"They're in more of a stage' style. We had such a brilliant time when we were filming the Denial video and trying on all the different costumes so that inspired us.

"We wanted to try something a bit more directional. And there's a disco-ball inspired outfit, which I'm excited about."

Intent on enjoying the whole of their time on the road, the twenty-something threesome plan to give it their all and enjoy themselves - both on and off the stage.

"We had such a good time last year everywhere we went," says Amelle.

"We got to see loads of new places and go to some great bars. We had so much fun. The parties are a bonus to touring. Everyone's on such a high and having such a brilliant time".

Recalling her last visit to our fair city, Keisha adds: "Oxford has got some beautiful architecture, so it's a great place to walk around and relax. The scenery is amazing!"

And, with their risqué outfits, new dance routines and polished vocal acrobatics at the ready, the gig should be nothing short of spectacular.

That said, it's usually the unpredictable moments that stick in the girls' memories after a tour, as Keisha explains: "I remember on the last tour we were doing Walk This Way and Heidi didn't get ready in time and didn't come out until the chorus, so I had to sing all her words. "Luckily our fans are really forgiving when things go wrong. They're great!"

Sugababes play Oxford's New Theatre on Monday. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets are £26.
