DEPARTMENT store Debenhams is to create about 50 temporary jobs for the festive season as it gears up for the busiest time of year for retailers.
Debenhams, which employs 23,000 permanent staff nationwide, will take on 9,000 extra workers this year, compared with 8,000 last year. Most jobs are part-time, run from November to January and involve flexible shifts.
The company could not say exactly how many would be taken on at its store in Magdalen Street, but said an average of 56 jobs will be offered at each of its 160 shops nationwide.
