The Bicester Business Awards are being revived after a gap of seven years, thanks to energetic work by organisers.
The awards were last held in 2002 and 2003, when they were presented by Olympic Athlete Kriss Akabussi and Falklands veteran Simon Weston.
Sponsors of next year’s awards will be Bicester Golf and Country Club, Bicester Chamber of Commerce and Bicester Vision, in conjunction with The Oxford Times’s sister newspaper, the Bicester Advertiser, which supported the previous two awards earlier in the decade.
Keith Watson, chairman of Bicester Chamber of Commerce, said: “At a time of economic downturn we need to let everyone know the good things that are happening in business within our town and surrounding villages.”
Derek Holmes, editor of the Bicester Advertiser, added: “So much is about to happen for the better in Bicester and 2010 will be an important date in the town’s calendar, so it is timely that the awards are back.”
The country club will host the awards ceremony on April 23 next year.
