TACKLING the recession is child’s play, according to David Fynn, who will open Toys UK in Didcot on Tuesday.
He has also identified another site in Oxfordshire for his business.
He said: “We saw an opportunity in Didcot to open a traditional toy shop selling items such as Lego and train sets. Traditionally, toys are not hit as hard in a recession because children still spend their pocket money and parents still want to spend on their families, even if they are cutting back on themselves.”
The closure of Woolworths and Dentons in the town has left a gap in the toy market and Mr Fynn said most items would cost £5 to £20.
Four jobs have been created in the store. Rob Rowse will become area manager once the second shop has opened. Toys UK started out as the e-commerce arm of the John Sanders department store in Ruislip, Middlesex but now has several stores in its own right.
