Ten jobs have been created after a major drinks distributor moved into new premises in Didcot.

Matthew Clark, which supplies drinks to pubs, restaurants and clubs across the UK, has taken over the former Britvic depot on the Southmead industrial estate.

Gary Squire, Matthew Clark’s regional managing director for the Midlands, said: “Opening this depot allows us to service a much wider network of customers in and around the Oxfordshire area.

“For some time not having a depot in this area has restricted our ability to provide the service we offer in other parts of the country.”

Mr Squire added: “Matthew Clark is delighted to be in a position to announce employment opportunities in the current economic climate, particularly when some of our competitors have announced depot closures recently.”

Matthew Clark supplies more than 4,000 drinks including spirits, beers, ciders soft drinks and wines.

The new will come as a boost to Didcot which saw 76 staff losing their jobs with the closure of the Bathstore depot announced earlier this month.

Workers are due to leave the company before August.
