Oxford’s best and worst rated GP surgeries have been revealed, according to the patients that use them.

The results of the GP Patient Survey 2021 have been published, after 22,566 questionnaires were sent out.

A total of 8,718 completed forms were returned, a response rate of 39 per cent.

The GP Patient Survey measures the experiences of patients across a range of different topics, including how easy it is to get through to someone on the phone, the helpfulness of receptionists and satisfaction with the general practice appointment times.

Mill Stream Surgery was the best surgery in Oxfordshire according to patients with an overall approval rating of 100 per cent.

Jericho Health Centre, Observatory Medical Practice, 19 Beaumont Street Surgery, St. Clement’s Surgery, 28 Beaumont Street, King Edward St Medical Practice, Banbury Road Medical Centre, Cowley Road Medical Practice and Bicester Health Centre all received approval ratings above 90 per cent.

Botley Medical Centre came out with the lowest overall approval rating – at just 66 per cent.

Data was unavailable for Luther Street Medical Practice.

Overall, 88 per cent of Oxfordshire patients were happy with their experiences at their GP surgery, compared to a national average of 83 per cent.

Although greatly affected by Covid-19, an average of 79 per cent of Oxfordshire patients found getting someone on the phone at their GP surgery easy, this is above the national average of 68 per cent.

Of the top three practices overall, Jericho Health Centre came out on top with patients finding it easy to speak with someone by phone – at 100 per cent.
