SIMON Anderson is still looking to add to his team after a defeat against Slough Jets left Oxford City Stars fifth in NIHL Division One South.

Stars made the trip to Berkshire on Sunday, but were narrowly beaten by the league leaders.

Adam Erskine gave Jets the lead in the second period, assisted by Conor Redmond.

Christian Mohr doubled the Jets lead when he finished into an empty net, with the assist coming from Jacob White-Sey.

Stars pulled a consolation back when Aaron Moody set up Dax Hedges.

Head coach Anderson told the club website he believes positive results are just around the corner.

He said: “A tough 2-1 loss in Slough was hard to take and I felt the boys deserved more for their efforts.

“This seems to be a theme in terms of effort and not getting the rewards, but sometimes that’s hockey.

“I truly believe that if we keep playing the way we are, then the positive results will come.

“We spoke about being more defensively responsible, especially after our heavy defeats against Streatham and Invicta, and since then we have been really outstanding in our end zone coverage.

“We are winning our loose puck battles more, collapsing and protecting the house, and doing whatever it takes to keep the puck out of our net.

“We just need to bear down offensively, as I really believe that if you concede only two goals in a game then you really should be walking away with the two points.”

On making signings for the Stars team, Anderson said getting bodies in comes with its complications, however he is hopeful of bringing a new forward in.

He said: “We are still looking to add to our roster, but it’s proving a lot harder than in previous seasons as there just isn’t the players available right now.

“We are hopefully close on a forward, but nothing is guaranteed right now, but we will see how that goes this week.

“Finally I would like to thank the fans who travelled to Slough.

“The boys really appreciate the support and we have an honest bunch of guys that are all working hard to turn our fortunes around, I can assure you of that.”

Stars begin December when they welcome MK Thunder to Oxpens this weekend.

They then finish the year with another home fixture, against Solent Devils on December 17.
