ONE of Oxfordshire’s trailblazing talents secured a personal best in the long jump as she stormed to victory at national championships.

Eloise Hind went into the England Athletics Under-20 and Under-23 Championships, held in Bedford, in top form.

The 18-year-old Oxford City AC athlete set a personal best in the 100m hurdles and equalled her season’s best in the high jump, while representing Great Britain and Northern Ireland Under-20s at the Mannheim International earlier this month.

In Bedfordshire, she won the long jump final with a distance of 6.12m.

She also finished seventh in her 100m hurdles group, posting a time of 25.41.

There was further success for Oxford City AC, as Ella Turner secured an impressive third in the 400m final, finishing in 55.22.

Billy Thomas Jude McCauley grabbed a personal best and fourth place in the shot put, with a distance of 15.93m.

There were sixth-place finishes for Ben Ince in the 110m hurdles (15.21) and Iona Irvine in the 100m hurdles (17.56).

Fionn Leaney managed seventh in the 400m hurdles, finishing in 1:01.53.

Radley AC’s Amber Jeacock West and Erin Waters both claimed fourth in the discus and javelin respectively, while Rowan Miell-Ingram managed fifth in the 3,500m.

Charlie Oliver Evans, of Banbury Harriers, got third in the javelin, with Emeline Darvell fifth in the discus, Shannon Dawes sixth in the javelin and Olly Perry sixth in his 100m group.
