ELOISE Hind was delighted to represent Great Britain for the first time, despite tricky conditions meaning she was shy of beating her personal best.
The Oxford City AC youngster was part of the Great Britain and Northern Ireland Under 20 team taking part in the Loughborough International at the weekend.
In the high jump, Hind’s best attempt came in at 1.70m.

She said: “I was a chunk off my personal best and a chunk off the World Juniors qualifying, but it was difficult conditions with the wind coming in different directions so I’m happy considering all that and I’m happy to get my first GB vest.
“It’s been really good, there’s great camaraderie in the team and everyone’s very friendly.
“Everyone here is willing to make a noise so it’s great, it’s probably the biggest crowd I have ever had, so that was quite exciting but nerve-racking.
“It’s made me more determined to get the qualifying for the World Juniors and have this experience again with the team.”

Hind and fellow athletes were able to test themselves ahead of the World Athletics U20 Championships taking place in Colombia this summer.
In September, she beat her own Oxford City AC record with a dominant performance in the heptathlon, at the English Schools’ Combined Events Championships.
The teenager won the Under 17 heptathlon with a score of 5,347 points – nearly 600 more than the next best athlete, and beating her previous best of 5,245, set in August.
