A pedestrian has been hospitalised after being hit by an Audi on an Oxford street.

The incident occurred when a pedestrian was involved in the collision on Chapel Street, off Cowley Road at around 10.15pm on Friday night, May 3. 

A black Audi A1 was involved and the pedestrian, who was a 39-year-old man, suffered minor injuries. The pedestrian was taken to hospital where he remains.

Police have confirmed no arrests have been made in connection with the pedestrian struck incident in Cowley Road of Oxford.

Over 10 police officers attended the incident while an ambulance and paramedics could also be seen close to the site outside the O2 Academy on Cowley Road.

The busy street was brought to a standstill as treatment was administered to the man before he was taken away to hospital.

Thames Valley Police has launched an appeal for witnesses to the incident. 

A police spokesperson also confirmed that the incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to contact by Thames Valley Police prior to the pedestrian struck incident. 

Further details on why the IOPC will be contacted were not released. 

A spokesperson for the force said: “As a result of the incident, a mandatory referral has been made by Thames Valley Police to the IOPC.”
