Striker Rob Hall has been recalled from his loan spell by West Ham United – just days after agreeing to extend his spell with Oxford United.
Earlier in the week, the 18-year-old frontman, who has scored six goals in 11 appearances, agreed to extend his loan.
However, with injury doubts over several players ahead of a busy Christmas programme, Hammers’ manager Sam Allardyce has brought Hall back with an eye on their Boxing Day game against Birmingham City.
U’s boss Chris Wilder said: “It is a blow, because Rob has shown what he can do in front of goal, but we always knew that this could happen.
“That’s why we have kept our options open. Tommy Craddock and Deane Smalley both scored last week, we have James Constable and Jon-Paul Pittman, plus Alfie Potter and young Matt Fletcher with us now.”
