OXFORD United boss Chris Wilder added to his squad last night by signing left-footed winger Jennison Myrie-Williams.
And the 22-year-old, who arrives from Scotland but who had two loan spells with Cheltenham Town, could be in the squad to face his former side at the Kassam Stadium tomorrow, if international clearance comes through in time.
That is needed because he was registered with the Scottish Football Association, who have now sent on all his forms to the English FA.
Myrie-Williams, who started his career with Bristol City, also had loan spells with Tranmere, Carlisle and Hereford.
He was released by Scottish Premier League side St Johnstone earlier this month.
And he should not have any qualms about appearing in front of a big crowd at Oxford, who are now up to seventh in League Two.
His last appearance came as a late substitute for St Johnstone against Celtic at Parkhead on Boxing Day, in front of more than 41,000.
Having been a free agent, he has joined Oxford until the end of the season.
Wilder said: “He’s a pacy left-footed player who goes past people.
“It’s the one thing we wanted because we’ve got Alfie Potter on the right, and we wanted someone who can do that on the left as well.
“He’s played at a real good standard, in the Scottish Premier League, has done well in League One and also started off with Bristol City in the Championship.”
Myrie-Williams, who was capped by England at Under 18 level, began the 2006-07 season as one of Bristol City’s brightest prospects and scored his first senior goal against Chesterfield which resulted in him featuring in FourFourTwo magazine’s ‘Boys a bit special’.
Myrie-Williams is looking forward to his new challenge at Oxford.
He said: “I want to create chances and score goals. I want to help Oxford win games, and hopefully get promoted.”
