Leaders Rose Hill Community Centre consolidated their position at the top of Greene King ODDA Winter League Section 2 with a 7-2 success at home to Three Horseshoes.
Rose Hill were given a good start by captain Steve Pladdys, who defeated Paul Bustin 3-1, despite Bustin’s tremendous 160 (60-60-40) finish in his winning leg.
The Shoes levelled when Derek Waine just got the better of Dave Witherwick 3-2, but the home side stormed into a 5-1 lead and a 2-1 pairs win sealed the verdict 7-2.
This leaves them four points ahead of Chequers, who ended a run of four losses with a 5-4 win at Butchers Arms.
Railway Social Club D opened up a 16-point lead at the top of Section 3 after seeing off visitors Marston British Legion 8-1.
The battle for the Section 4 title looks like going all the way after leaders Red Lion B just held on to beat Nuffield Bar 5-4 in a cliffhanger.
