Original Swan A made it six wins from six games to open up a big gap at the top of the Premier Section.

Entertaining Section 1 leaders College Oak A, they raced into a 3-0 lead with wins from Terry Woods (180), Ray Pape and Tony Allday (180).

The Section 1 side pulled one back when Les Radford beat Nick Cobb (180), before Jon Jukes (180) and Tim Tricker gave the home side a 5-1 advantage which they increased to 7-2 after a 2-1 pairs victory.

White Horse Inn started well against the visiting Littlemore British Legion, Kit Young and Dave Latty putting them 2-0 up.

Legion stormed back through Peter Kinch, Pete Jones, Alan Eckert and Peter Herman, before White Horse rallied to triumph 5-4 by winning the pairs 3-0.

Section 2 leaders Chequers Inn entertained second-placed Rose Hill Community Centre.

The singles ended all square at 3-3, but Rose Hill’s 2-1 pairs win gave them a vital 5-4 success. They are now five points behind the Chequers, having played one game fewer. Only six points separate the top six teams at the halfway point of the season.

Railway Social Club D have opened up a ten-point lead at the top of Section 3 after a fine 6-3 victory at College Oak B.

New Club made it eight wins from eight games in Section 4 when Les Darvill, Graeme Johns and Steve Johnson helped them defeat the visiting George Bar A 6-3.

In Section 8, Nelson C registered their first-ever win with a 5-4 victory over Headington British Legion.

Mike Laxton, Kevin Juggins and Jason Dowsing were their singles winners, while Kev Hawes and Craig Bustin clinched the decisive pairs win.
