EXPERIENCED forward Shannon Taylor has joined Oxford City Stars for the third time.

The 31-year-old signs for the coming campaign after six seasons out of the game.

Taylor scored 20 goals across two spells with Stars in 2009/10 and 2011/12, while he has also turned out for Swindon Wildcats and Bristol Pitbulls.

Now reunited with head coach Simon Anderson, he is excited to get going.

Taylor said: “I am delighted to be returning to Oxford.

“The opportunity to play for such a great club and the chance to play for Simon again was too big of a lure to keep me away any longer.

“The time I spent off the ice created a huge hunger and I am looking to channel that and bring my experience to the team in front of the net and, importantly, to lead from the front by being a leader both on and off the ice.

“I can’t wait to join up with the squad and deliver a great season for the fans.”

Taylor is the second new arrival at Stars this summer, following Brad Watchorn in joining the Oxpens outfit.

Both players boast plenty of experience and Anderson expects his latest signing to be an asset.

He said: “Shannon contacted me and after a long conversation it was apparent that he was eager to get back into the game after some time out.

“I’ve known Shannon a long time and coached him in three other teams in my career and my gut feeling was to give him the opportunity he is craving.

“His experience will be crucial for us and Shannon has produced some great numbers in his career at some decent levels.

“He is a former GB junior international and has played at higher levels than this.

“I feel Shannon will come in, be a good example to our younger players and has the potential to surprise any doubters with his performances. I’m excited to see Shannon in yellow.”

Three members of last season’s squad – Tom Ravenscroft, Chris Cooke and Ross Miller - have also re-signed for Stars.
