NICO Hulkenberg equalled his best result of the season as he finished sixth in the British Grand Prix.
The German, who drives for the Enstone-based Renault team, had qualified 11th at Silverstone.
But in an action-packed grand prix, the 30-year-old finished as the ‘best of the rest’ behind the sports’ powerhouses as Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel beat Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton.
However, there was no such joy for Hulkenberg’s teammate Carlos Sainz.
The Spaniard and Banbury-prepared Haas driver Romain Grosjean collided through the 180mph Copse corner.
Haas did pick up points, though, as Kevin Magnussen finished ninth.
Grove-based Williams’ struggles continued, with Lance Stroll and Sergey Sirotkin at the back of the field in 12th and 13th respectively.
Both drivers had started from the pitlane after changing their rear wings following crashes in qualifying.
