KARL Robinson has revealed the first three players he has already told are not in his plans for Oxford United next season.
Dwight Tiendalli and Ivo Pekalski and Mike Williamson, who all signed last summer, have been informed they are surplus to requirements.
None of them have played a competitive game since January, while Pekalski looks set to leave without making his debut, having ruptured cruciate ligaments in August.
The Swede is the most complicated exit of the three to engineer – he has 12 months still left on his contract, while the other two will become free agents this summer.
Robinson, United’s manager, said: “People have been told they can go and do other things.
“Dwight’s been gone since my second day here and Ivo’s looking at different things abroad so he’s not been here for a week.
“We’ve spoken to Mike Williamson as well.
“We’ve said it’s not 100 per cent, but if you look at our centre back situation you’ve got Nelse (Curtis Nelson), Mous (John Mousinho), Rob (Dickie) and (Charlie) Raglan, who is out on loan doing very well and is a good age.
“There have been discussions with one or two others as well, but we’ll wait to announce the official list.
“It’s been very busy.”
Although United still need a point at home to Rochdale tomorrow to guarantee their Sky Bet League One status for next season, Robinson is looking to make swift progress when it comes to recruitment.
Clearing space is the first step, but the U’s boss –who was due to hold a recruitment meeting yesterday with owner Sumrith Thanakarnjanausth, known as Tiger – has also been busy working on targets.
Speaking yesterday, Robinson said: “I spoke to two managers on Wednesday about some of their players.
“There will be five players we’ll wait for until the end, but five or six we want to get done early.
“You’re not going to get them all done. Just because I’m sat here now saying that, doesn’t mean it will materialise, but there’s one or two irons in the fire.
“We’ll see Tiger today, we met with Darryl (Eales) on Tuesday and all three of us will sit down today and have a good discussion.”
Robinson joked: “It could cost him a lot of money this trip.
“But we’ll have a discussion and try to get everything fixed and our mindset ready for where we go from here.
“That’s the bit I’m looking forward to."
