OXFORD United have rejected a bid for Simon Eastwood from Sky Bet Championship club Barnsley.
Tykes boss Paul Heckingbottom admitted earlier this month the goalkeeper was on his shortlist and has revealed this morning the approach for the goalkeeper had been rejected.
He told the Barnsley Chronicle: "We put in a bid and it was rejected.
"Until Oxford agree to sell him then there is nothing we can do about it. I would like to go back in for him."
Eastwood has been one of the side's most consistent performers since signing in June 2016 and was voted player of last season by U's fans and his teammates.
The 28-year-old, who is contracted until summer 2019, has made 97 appearances for United since signing in June 2016.
Meanwhile, reports United had already signed American goalkeeper Brad Stuver on loan from New York City for the rest of the season appear wide of the mark.
