OXFORD United’s clash with Swansea City is on course to set a record FA Cup attendance for the Kassam Stadium.

While the Barclays Premier League side failed to sell their allocation, returning 1,300 tickets, they have been gratefully snapped up by U’s fans.

The extra allocation sold out yesterday afternoon, less than three days after becoming available.

It means the third round tie on Sunday, January 10 should surpass the 11,645 who saw United’s 1-0 win against Swindon Town in 2002.

There may be one final opportunity for ticketless fans to watch the game.

Any seats held by season ticket holders which have not been secured by 5.30pm today will go on general sale tomorrow morning.

Despite the high demand and segregation between the sets of fans down to about 300 seats, it is expected to fall short of the overall record, which is 12,243 against Leyton Orient in 2006.

  • AIDAN Hawtin’s loan at Brackley Town has been extended until the end of the season.

The right back, who has made one senior appearance for the U’s, joined the Vanarama League North side in September and can be recalled at short notice if required.
