FREE lantern workshops are being offered to people in the Carterton area ahead of the town’s winter lights procession later this month.
The classes, which will run on Sunday, November 16 and Saturday, November 22 from 10am to 4pm, will be led by artist Emily Cooling.
People of all ages will be able to drop in to Carterton Community Centre in Marigold Square at any time during the workshops to learn how to make and decorate lanterns made from paper and willow.
They will then have the chance to take part in the winter lights procession on Friday, November 28.

The procession will leave Carterton Community College in Upavon Way at 5.15pm and make its way to Carterton Town Hall for the switch on of the town’s Christmas lights.
West Oxfordshire District Council cabinet member for local culture Richard Langridge said: “Carterton’s winter light procession is an excellent way of bringing the community together and welcome in the festive season.
“Last year’s workshops were very popular.
“Around 200 people came along and made lanterns so we’re delighted to invite residents of all ages to join in the celebrations again.”
