A SCHOOLGIRL is looking forward to switching on the TV to watch Holby City tomorrow night — she will be appearing on screen.
Ellie Darcey-Alden, 10, from Yarnton, has been acting for about two years and started dancing with the Kidlington dance school, Dance 10, four years ago.
Her big moment on screen comes as her dance school celebrates a golden haul of medals this year.
Each of the 29 dancers who took part in an event in Sadler’s Wells took home at least two medals, while the school scored eight troupe trophies, 15 individual trophies and five special recommendation trophies.
After going to the Holby City audition with her mother in June, Ellie landed the part of Emma Walker for three episodes of the hospital drama.
The first will be screened on BBC1 tomorrow at 8pm.
The Edward Feild School pupil, who has previously appeared in stage productions of Robin Hood and on the small screen in Tess of the D’Urbervilles, said: “It was very entertaining and a very good experience. I really, really enjoyed it.”
During filming, she met Jade Jackson and Patsy Kensit.
She said: “They were really nice, funny and entertaining.
“I want to be like Patsy Kensit when I am older because she is such a good actress.
“I am a big Holby City fan and I am really excited about seeing it on the television. All my friends and family are coming to watch it with me.”
Ellie is not the only dancer with stars in her eyes — she will be joined by four others from the school in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at Oxford’s New Theatre in December.
Ilana Kneafsey, Charlee Pitts, Annie Bell and Melissa Fry have all picked up parts in the musical.
Charlee, 10, from Yarnton, said: “We’re all really excited about Chitty because the car actually flies.
“I have done three adverts before and you have to be very patient when you are filming.
“In one part I had to speak German, which was really difficult. My friends sent me photos of me on bus stops in Germany.”
Two girls, Amy Gardner, 13 and Georgia Francis, eight, will be in Jack and the Beanstalk at Oxford Playhouse, also in December.
Dance school principal Jackie Crumell said: “It’s amazing. I shall be going to see them all.
“I think they are the stars of tomorrow.
“They work very hard and we do have very high standards that we like to work to, because that’s what dancing is all about.
“We are slave-drivers, but hopefully our enthusiasm for dance comes across.”
