A landlord has been landed with a £13,500 bill for failing to maintain and properly licence one of properties.
Mohammed Rana, who runs Chandlers Estate Agents, in Cherwell Drive, Headington, Oxford, admitted failing to licence a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Environmental health officers from Oxford City Council visited the property, in Rectory Road, East Oxford, in November last year, and found windows in a state of disrepair.
Then when asked, Rana also failed to provide an electrical installation test certificate and information about the ownership of the property.
Magistrates fined Rana £4,500 for not licensing the property, and £3,000 each for the two breaches to the HMO management regulations.
He was also fined £3,000 for failing to provide information to the council and ordered to pay costs of £600 and the £15 victim surcharge. Rana has already been fined £12,000 for renting out an unsafe house in St Mary’s Road, East Oxford.
